Conferences

Pursuant to its mandate, the EIIPD has focused on training, Advocacy, think-tank, and networking activities.  The following brief summary deals with what the EIIPD has done in these  major areas.

EIIPD launched ToT programmes were held in five sessions

EIIPD started training its trainers in Addis Ababa for two days on September 17&18, 2007. Initially we trained 30 trainers from legal enforcement agencies, covering 13 women and 17men. Participants were drawn from the following institutions:

 

  •  Ministry of Federal Affairs;

  • Administration for Refugees Returnee Affairs;

  • Addis Ababa City Administration Justice Bureau

  • Federal High Court;

  • Immigration and Citizenship Affairs Authority;

  • Federal Supreme Court;

  •  Federal Prison Commission;

  • Addis Ababa Police Commission;

  •  Federal Police Commission;

  • Federal Custom Authority;

  • Federal Prosecutor Office;  

  • Ministry of Justice; and

  • Federal Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission

The second session in Addis Ababa was held for two days from october4-5, 2007. About 24 participants drawn from Ministries and government Authorities attended the training, of which 8 were women and 16 were men . for more

Workshops and Seminars for Capacity Building 

A total of 39 workshops and seminars each with an average duration of ten days were conducted and 3500 participants benefited from the programs.  The core seminars and workshops included: 

1.   Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Immunity,
2.   Conflict Management and Negotiation Skills-four rounds,
3.   Financial Deregulation and Foreign Direct Investment (FDI)   two    rounds,
4.   Seminar on Regional Security in North East Africa,
5.   Value for Money and Financial Audit,
6.   Non-Navigational uses of International Watercourses,
7.   Multilateral Development Institutions in Ethiopia: __two rounds
8.   European Union and Africa from Lomé to Cotonou,
9.   Human Rights and Civic Responsibility three rounds
10. Information and Communication Technology (ICT) two  rounds,      
11. Ethiopian Admission to the WTO - the Experience of China and Thailand,
12.100 years of Ethio-US Relations,
13. NEPAD in the Context of Ethiopia's National Policy.

 

The participants who attended the above workshops and seminars were drawn from more than 50 institutions including the following:
